Color is perhaps one of the most important areas to master for good art.
Every color has psychological traits, which should be taken into account, as well as the relationships between different colors.

first - the color wheel
The color wheel is one way of identifying colors, here is an example of a basic wheel:

primary colors - the three basic colors, red, yellow, and blue. All other colors are a mix of these three hues.
secondary colors - the colors you get when you mix two of the primary colors in equal ammounts; such as green, orange, and violet.
